Thunder & Lightning News Service has grown over the past decade and a half from a news-coverage bureau tailored to the special needs of local television and network news operations to a multi-platform operation that provides content, consulting, and strategic initiatives to a number of online and over-the-air organizations.

Paul Skolnick founded the company and continues to head it. An award-winning journalist, Skolnick has worked for the last 35 years in print, broadcast, and online, covering some of the biggest stories of the day and making many of the little stories memorable. Among the major stories are riots, fires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, a disputed Presidential election (2000), and the saga of Elian Gonzales. Among the smaller stories: a series of reports that exposed a major manufacturer and financial institution for fraudulent practices that led to the largest consumer-fraud fine in California history; detailing the U.S. government’s sordid handling of a toxic materials exposure of its employees that led to an apology to the workers from the President of the United States and the Secretary of Energy; ground-breaking data-analysis techniques that helped explain crime patterns and what people could do to improve the safety of their own neighborhoods.
